Born in Tredegar and raised in Abertillery, Neil is very proud of his Welsh roots. Having trained in Newport and then Bristol Neil qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1972 and worked in industry for six years starting at GKN South Wales in Cardiff before joining the practice in Monmouth. The practice was originally called R A Williams and Co changing its name to Agincourt Practice following incorporation in 2000. The firm opened a Cardiff office in 1984. Neil has been very involved with local Gwent & Powys branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales for a long time. In 2004 he spent a year in office as President of the South Wales Society of Chartered Accountants. Neil and his wife Val who live just outside Monmouth have two grown up children, a son-in-law and one grandchild and 2 dogs to take care of. His interests included riding motor cycle trials as a teenager and playing rugby for the school. He continued playing rugby for various teams ending with Monmouth Rugby Club at the age of 32 as his playing career was cut short by an unfortunate meeting between his foot and a chainsaw! Still very keen on keeping fit Neil enjoys skiing and sailing when allowed. Since 1981 he has been a member of the Monmouthshire Agricultural Club and is a past chairman and its current treasurer.
Mary joined the firm in 1990 shortly after moving to Abergavenny from Swansea and is the most recent addition to the Board of the Company. Originally from Ystrad Mynach she attended The Lewis Grammar School for Girls before going on to UWIST in Cardiff from where she graduated with a degree in Economics and Accountancy. Mary Articled with Touche Ross in Cardiff where she qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1980. Mary is married to Laurence and they have two sons, Matthew and Michael. Mary specialises in small to medium enterprises offering accounting & tax advice, she has been instrumental in the company achieving and maintaining the Investors in People accreditation. She lists amongst her hobbies, hill walking, keeping fit as a member of a local gym and is a Deacon and treasurer in her local church.
